Twin Screen

After Effects

 Corazón

I have decided that my multiscreen project will be based on how I feel about my home country, México. It is a place to which I hold a very strong conection. I wish to portray my culture with animation and film.

On one side of the screen I decided to record multiple things that I love about Mexico and the other an animation of a heart that reacts to the different themes or videos.

This project was challenging but I liked working on it because it is about something I love and because I am interested on learning animation.

First I created a storyboard to what I wanted my project to look like.

After that I created in Photoshop my corazón.

Then, I created the multiple other backgrounds and stuff that I wanted to animate to it.

Now, taking into After Effects I took my story board and decided to give each heart a 10 sec animation, to meet the lenght set in the brief, that makes my piece be 1 min and 30 secs long.

For the main heart animation I learnt to use the puppeting tool, to make it look like it is beating. I choose the points that I wanted to alter and then set the keyframes.

After that I animated my different designs around the heart mainly with the transform tools and some effects.

Then I went and shot what I needed for the other side of the screen. After that I edited the video in Premiere Pro because I felt more confortable editing videos there, also because I wanted to try out a rewind efect in the end.

I exported the video and took the project again to After Effects. I edited it to fit with the hearts and to match the designs, colour scheme and theme.

I had a couple of problems while exporting the final video but it got done.

This was a project that I enjoyed. If I were to do it again I would spend more time in making the animation be smoother, and probably make my photoshop objects better.

Here is my project.
