First experimental film

 

We where asked to create a short experimental film, about anything but we had to include time manipulation in it. My concept refers to the feeling of drowning in sadness and loneliness. 

Primary colours have different associations attached to them - RED means passion, blood, anger, etc. and other strong emotions. YELLOW means joy and happiness. BLUE is sadness, calm, vastness. -  so, I decided to use the colour blue because it represents a feeling that im trying to portray. 

I chose to do it underwater because many people could describe these feelings, as enclosing, sufocating and drowning. So being underwater seemed a very obvious way to do it. 

So I got my footage and started playing around with the whole time manipulation thing, and it adds more to what I am trying to show, some bits are slow, others reversed and others are fast forward. It makes it feel more surreal. 

If I had to do this again, I would shoot several times to get different angles and maybe portray better this feeling.
